The Bulldog Bots, our MS Robotics team, competed in their first of two competitions this past weekend at the Freeland Qualifier.
Their robot (Bulldog 1) performed well. It had to pick up blocks, place blocks in baskets, or hang them on a bar, and the robot had to hang on a bar and perform autonomous tasks.
After regular match play, they ranked 10th out of 35 teams, with a record of 4 wins and one loss. The Bulldog Bots made the playoffs and served as Captain of Alliance 6. However, they were eliminated from play after two hard-fought matches.
Congratulations to Team 21860, The Bulldog Bots! Keep up the excellent work!

Mrs. Pumford's 5th-grade students are working on a collaborative writing activity where three to four students work together to create a fictional piece of writing. This helps students learn how to share ideas, build on each other’s thoughts, and improve their writing skills by giving and receiving feedback. This allows students to understand the concept of partner writing and encourages them to learn how to collaborate creatively and how, in the future, it is a life skill they will need in their careers as well.
Not only is it a learning experience, but it's also fun to see how each other's thoughts and ideas come to life.

We wish a happy retirement to our lifelong STC Bulldog, Donna Schantz!
Donna has been an invaluable asset to our district and will be greatly missed in our buildings for years to come. On October 31st, Mrs. Schantz celebrated her final day in the district by handing out light-up flashy sunglasses to the middle and high school students as a parting gift. This gesture was a true reflection of her caring nature—giving back on her special day! We will miss you, Donna! Enjoy your retirement!

Halloween at St. Charles Elementary School was a day filled with fun and excitement.
We began the day with a costume parade throughout the district. To show our appreciation for our Superintendent, Mark Benson, we created banners in his honor. Mr. Benson also grilled hot dogs for our students' lunches—thank you, Mrs. Benson!
We concluded the day with a variety of activities in our individual classrooms. It was a great Halloween day!

All 8th graders wrote essays in their 8th grade ELA class about who their Michigan hero was and why. Some wrote about family and friends, while others wrote about members of their community.
The top 10 essays will be submitted to the America and Me contest, and then it will be narrowed down to the top three from our school. Results typically are posted in the spring. Congratulations to all writers and the top ten in the picture.

Mrs. Hatfield taught the 6th graders how to read nutrition labels in class. This is part of a six-week program called "Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds". She also made a healthy snack called "Sticks, Stones, and Bricks." If you'd like to try it at home, it consists of pretzels, cheese, cucumber slices, and red grapes.

Students in 10th grade had the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Saginaw Career Complex to learn more about the 22 programs that SCC offers. In January, students will take a field trip to visit three programs of their choosing.
Thank you to the Saginaw Career Complex for meeting with our students to help them learn more about possible future careers.
